Zona Privacy Policy

Account information

When you create a Zona account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely on our servers). We may store a display name if you provide one.

Location data

With your permission, Zona uses your device location to show your position on the map, help you drop pins at places you visit, and—when you use voice capture—optionally include your current coordinates as context so spoken places can be interpreted more accurately. Location access is optional and controlled through your device settings.

Content you create

We store the places, events, notes, addresses, and categories you save in the app. This content is tied to your account and is not shared publicly through Zona.

Voice capture (microphone and AI parsing)

If you use voice capture, Zona requests microphone and speech recognition permission on your device. Speech is converted to text on your device; raw audio is not saved or uploaded by Zona.

After you accept the in-app disclosure, the text transcript is sent to our servers and shared with OpenAI so it can suggest location, note, and reminder fields. If you have already granted location permission, we may include your current coordinates as context. Spoken place names may be looked up with OpenStreetMap Nominatim to suggest map coordinates. Nothing is saved to your account until you review the draft and confirm. You can discard the transcript or draft before saving. We do not retain voice transcripts on our servers after parsing completes.

Server logs for voice parsing include metadata such as request timing and transcript length, not the transcript text itself.

Technical data

We may collect standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps, app version) to operate and secure the Zona API.

How we use Zona data

• Provide and maintain your account and saved data
• Sync your places and events across sessions
• Improve reliability and fix bugs
• Respond to support requests

We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and your choices

We retain your Zona account and content until you delete it or request account deletion. You may delete individual places and events in the app.

• Location: Enable or disable in iOS or Android system settings
• Voice capture: Discard transcript or draft before saving; decline the in-app disclosure (which names OpenAI) to avoid sending transcripts for parsing
• Account deletion: Profile → Delete account in the app (permanent), or email support@techandlimon.com
• Sign out: Clears the local session token on your device

Children's privacy

Zona is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
